When our client in Mission Hills, KS, reached out to our team, they wanted to create a multi-purpose outdoor living space. They had a large backyard area and were looking to install a new pool, which would serve as the central element. So, we got to work constructing it! We built a retaining wall to level out their sloped yard, installing a long, rectangular pool along the top. A paver pool deck was also incorporated around it where they could lounge, along with a fire pit. After that, we installed a patio at their house's back entrance, connecting it to the pool area with a walkway and steps. Then, to finish off this outdoor living upgrade, we added new landscape beds and a putting green in the backyard lawn. With everything complete, our client now has a purposeful layout of different spaces perfect for maximizing the enjoyment of their outdoor space.

The first step of this outdoor living upgrade was to construct the swimming pool.

This outdoor living upgrade was extensive and involved multiple elements, but the first step was to construct the primary one: the swimming pool! Our client's yard had a slope where the pool was going, so we had to build a retaining wall to flatten out that land. Then, we installed a long, rectangular pool along the top of the wall, which has an infinity edge that goes into a built-in waterfall. This gives the pool a sleek, modern look and adds visual interest.

In addition to the pool, we installed a paver pool deck around it so our client has a space to lounge by the water. We used different-sized pavers arranged in an attractive pattern, which we complemented with a black rectangular fire pit. A separate spa was also incorporated! These elements create the ultimate poolside hangout spot and enhance the high-end aesthetic they wanted to achieve.

We Installed a Patio at the Back Entrance of Our Client's House

Another element of this outdoor living project was a patio at the back entrance of our client's house. The same pavers as the pool deck were used to build it to ensure a cohesive look among these areas. Then, we connected it to the pool with a paver walkway and large stone slab steps, making it easier to go between them. This patio serves as yet another spot for them to spend time outside while enjoying the warmth of their outdoor fireplace.

The finishing touches of this project included new landscape beds and a putting green.

With the main elements of this project complete, all we had left were the finishing touches! We installed new landscape beds around their upgraded outdoor living space, filling them with beautiful plants and lighting to keep everything illuminated at night. These beds bring pops of color and a more complete feel to the space. Additionally, a putting green was installed in the backyard lawn, giving our client another activity to enjoy. Now, they have a multi-faceted outdoor living area with a well-designed layout perfect for hosting and maximizing their investment.
