We had a client in Leawood, KS, looking to create an outdoor living oasis in their backyard. They had a lot of space to work with, so they wanted to build a pool for cooling off during the summer and other elements around it to maximize enjoyment. So, they contacted our team to make it happen! The first step of this comprehensive project was to install a beautiful gunite pool with a concrete pool deck. Then, a paver patio was incorporated beside it, which features an outdoor kitchen, fireplace, and metal pergola. After that, we installed landscape beds around their newly completed outdoor living area, filled with rocks, plants, and lighting to give it that finished look.

Constructing the Pool Was the First Step of This Outdoor Living Project

Our client wanted to maximize the use of their large backyard by creating a space to host gatherings and enjoy the outdoors. Their vision included a pool that would serve as the main focal point. Our crew started this project with the construction of their gunite pool, which features a slim, rectangular shape, a sun shelf with a bubbler, and integrated lighting. A concrete pool deck was also built around it to define the area. Its sleek, modern design achieves the high-end aesthetic they were looking for, setting the stage for the rest of the elements.

We Installed a Paver Patio, Outdoor Kitchen & Fireplace Beside the Pool

With the pool complete, the next steps of this outdoor living project were to build out the area around it. We installed a patio using light-colored concrete pavers along one side, which connects to the base of their deck steps for a seamless transition. Then, we built a stone outdoor kitchen with stainless steel amenities and integrated lighting so our client can cook meals outside.

To create a cohesive look between features, we used the same stone as the kitchen to construct the wood-burning fireplace next to it. This fire feature is a great addition, as it provides cozy warmth that extends the use of their outdoor space into the cooler months. Finally, a black metal pergola was installed in front of the fireplace to create a spot where they can gather in front of the fire while being shielded from the elements.

The Finishing Touches of This Project Included New Landscaping & Lighting

Once the main features of this outdoor living project were done, we moved on to the finishing touches! Landscape beds were installed around the newly transformed area, which features a rock ground cover and charming plants. Not only do these softscaping elements add depth and texture to the space, but they also seamlessly integrate natural beauty into the design. Additionally, LED landscape lighting fixtures were strategically placed throughout the beds to keep them illuminated at night. Now, our client has a functional outdoor living space perfect for hosting and year-round use!
